Zoom Meeting Information and Instructions

Please read and follow the instructions below. On this page, we are informing you about what you will need to do to qualify for CE credit, how the meetings will be run, and how you will get your CE certificate. Everything you need to know is on this page.
The requirements to register and information on obtaining the CE certificate ONLY apply if you want to attend the meeting via Zoom. If you want to attend in person, just show up - you do not need to register, and you will will receive your CE certificate at the end of the meeting.

You must pre-register for the Zoom meeting, using the link under the course date on the Upcoming Meetings page.
  • Your Board has been putting in a lot of time and effort to get this up and running. We are doing this all by ourselves and without outside help. Please be patient with us. We are all practicing dentists just like you.
  • Pre-registering for the course is mandatory for us to be able to document attendance. You cannot get a CE certificate without pre-registration.
  • After pre-registering, you will get a confirmation email from Zoom, with a link that you will need to click on when the meeting starts.
  • Zoom offers you the option of clicking a link to add the meeting to your calendar (Google, Outlook - this one will work on the Mac if you use their calendar app, and Yahoo).
  • If you opt to click on one of those links to add it to your calendar, you may see a list of the other attendees, with the buttons at the top: "Accept", "Maybe", "Decline". DO NOT click on any of these. The fact that Zoom sent you a confirmation email means that you are registered. If you click on "Accept" in your mail program, all the other registrants are going to get a group email from you any everyone is going to get confused.
  • Keep the webinar link in a safe place. It is unique to you - it enables Zoom to track when you join the meeting and when you leave the meeting. It cannot be shared.
  • If you share the link with someone else (who either did not pre-register or forgot their link), NEITHER of you will get credit for having attended the meeting, so don't do this.
  • If you forget the link/trashed the email, I (Bob Silverstein) can re-send the confirmation email to you. Don't request this the day of the meeting. I won't have time to help you.
  • You must register separately for each meeting. You will receive confirmation emails for each meeting. You need to save ALL of these emails. The links are specific to you, and specific to each meeting. The link you get for meeting 1 will not take you to meeting 2, etc.
  • You can view the webinar from a desktop computer, a phone, or tablet.
  • If you have not used Zoom before, you should go to Zoom.us, and at least download their app. You may also want to watch some YouTube videos to become familiar with it. Please don't wait until the last minute and expect one of us to help you.
  • If you want to view the meeting on your phone or tablet, Zoom requires you to download their app from the app store appropriate for your device. They won't let you view the meeting in a web browser on your mobile device.
  • You do not need to have an account with Zoom to watch the webinar.
  • The video that you will see will be a shot of the front of the meeting room: the podium and the LCD slide presentation, as if you were in the room. The speaker's presentation will NOT be presented directly on your screen like was the case when the meetings were only virtual. There was no practical way to do this.
  • You will be able to ask questions using the Q&A button at the bottom of your Zoom window.
  • Those of you who have been on Zoom meeting calls have been able to use the Chat button. For purposes of the webinar, we are reserving the Chat button for the presenters to communicate amongst themselves behind the scenes, so don't use the Chat button; use the Q&A button.
  • After the meeting is over, Zoom generates a report with your name, email address, and the times that you joined and left the meeting. If you expect to get a CE certificate, then you should at least be present for the speaker, and until the end of the speaker's presentation.
  • If the Zoom report shows that you were present for the speaker's presentation, our Executive Secretary, Stephanie Dowling, will email you your CE certificate within about a week of the meeting. This is being done manually. Please be patient. We are all very busy (and we hope you are too).
