Dr. Glick has published more than 100 articles, book-chapters and monographs on oral medicine related issues, specifically proposing protocols for dental treatment for patients with complex medical conditions. Dr. Glick serves on a number of international and national committees on HIV and other blood borne infectious diseases. He is also an ADA Seminars speaker on “Dental Treatment for Medically Complex Patients”, “Infectious Diseases”, and “Bioterrorism”.

He also serves as the dental representative on the National High Blood Pressure Education Program Coordinating Committee.
Dr. Glick is the recipient of several awards for his educational and research efforts. He is the Editor of the Journal of the American Dental Association, and he serves on the editorial board of several professional journals including Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and Endodontics. Dr. Glick is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine.
For the past 20 years, infectious diseases have had a great impact on dentistry, which has resulted in changes of dental practices, as well as defined the role of dentists in the health care community. New and emerging diseases are often in the headlines, and dental professionals are often looked upon as informational resources by both their patients and staff. Keeping current on the latest disease is some times an overwhelming undertaking. This presentation will help oral healthcare providers gain a valuable perspective on topics such as epidemiology, transmission, contagion, and the role of dental care providers.

Dr. Gerry Greitzer will be speaking this month on the topic of “Adhesive Dentistry,” this will be sponsored by Asteto. He has spoken throughout the country on the topic of dental materials and spoken numerous times at the IADR meetings.
Our full day course with David Garber is next month on Wednesday, April 19th. So far we have over 120 people signed up for the course with over 1 month left for registration.
We are getting closer to Staff Night on May 16th. Laura Jo Vitale-Bender is doing a great job getting free prizes for raffles and giveaways. Again the theme is a Hawaiian Luau Night. Please spread the word that the dress is casual; shorts/skirts and Hawaiian shirts are preferred. There will be a DJ with lots of music and dancing and it should be a real fun night.
NJDA Council Reports:
Membership-Ethan Glickman for Scott Galkin
The committee put together a welcome packet for new members. Members of the Board are inviting new members to be their guests at the general meeting - to welcome them to our society, introduce them to other members, make them aware of the values of being a member, make them aware of the dues structure, and to provide them with a point of contact for any questions they may have.
Peer Review-John Fahsbender, Mark Vitale
Two cases were mediated this month.
Just a reminder that the purpose of the Peer Review process is to
mediate disputes between patients and their treating dentists. If you get a call from the Peer Review committee, and you think that the treatment you provided was not in error, don’t feel obligated to return your fee to the patient. We see this happen frequently - the doctor is probably in the right but doesn’t want to particpate in the process and just returns the fee. There is no down side to participating in the Peer Review process; decisions made in favor of the patient (whether refunds are voluntary or not) are not reported to the National Practitioner Data Bank - this is one of the main benefits of Peer Review.
Committee Reports:
Mentor-Ethan Glickman
We are considering a course to be held in either April or October with Dr. Harold Baumgarten and Dr. Frank Lauciello. Excel-Berger dental lab would be the sponsor.
Continuing Education-Mark Schambra
The date for the lecture with Dr. John Kois is April 25th, 2008. He was not available before then, and this was the only date in 2008 that he was available.
Respectfully Submitted,
Mark Vitale

Correction
In the March issue, an article stated that Dr. Richard Kahn had been elected Treasurer of NJDA for the 2006-7 term. In actuality, Dr. Kahn has been formally nominated to be the next Treasurer of NJDA for the 2006-7 term. On June 9, 2006, the NJDA House of Delegates will vote upon his nomination. He currently runs unopposed.
