Distinguished Life Members

2011

The following MCDS members have achieved life membership this year. They have shown a steadfast dedication to their profession and organized dentistry over their careers. They will be formally inducted as life members at this month's dinner meeting. Each new life member was asked to submit their biographical information below, recognizing that such limited space cannot do justice to all of their professional and personal achievements.

Neil Roth

Dr. Neil Roth was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1945. Dr. Roth attended Franklin and Marshall College for his undergraduate education and obtained his DMD degree from UMDNJ in 1971. Dr. Roth continued his training in orofacial pain by attending UMDNJ Extended Program diagnosis and management of orofacial pain and craniomandibular disorders in 1988-89 and 1992-1993. He is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, a diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain. Dr. Roth has been in private practice in South Amboy since 1971. He has served as a MCDS Program chair, Treasurer, Vice President, Trustee, and NJDA Delegate. He resides in Colts Neck with his wife Sue and has two sons, Sydney and Matthew.

Irvin Sherman

Dr. Irvin Sherman was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1945. He received his BA in Biology from the University of Louisville in 1967 and a Masters in Microbiology from Hofstra University in 1968. He attended the University of North Carolina Dental School and received his DDS degree in 1972. Dr. Sherman continued his training at the Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry in 1974 with a Master of Science in Dentistry and a specialty in Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Sherman became an associate of Dr. Kurt Bomze in Cherry Hill for one year following his graduation from the pediatric dental program. He then opened a private pediatric dental practice in East Brunswick, NJ in 1976, he transitioned this (Central New Jersey Pediatric and Orthodontics) in 2008, where he is currently practicing full time. He recently started a new pediatric/orthodontic office in Avon by the Sea, NJ. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and a fellow of the American Society of Dentistry for Children. Dr. Sherman resides in Avon by the Sea with his wife Donna. He is the father to Dawn, Erica, Jimmy, Allison, and Dustin and grandfather to Milana and Gianna.
Dr. Sherman states, "it has been a privilege to be a member of the New Jersey Dental Association in Middlesex County. It is made up of many very dedicated dentists and they should also be recognized."

Edward Alan Santucci
